No advance on Kyiv: National Guard assesses risks of new Russian offensive from north

Russian forces will not be able to reach Kyiv from the north even if they manage to advance up to 20 kilometers into the border area, National Guard Commander Oleksandr Pivnenko said this in an interview with LB.
According to him, a possible advance by Russian forces 10–20 kilometers in the northern direction would only be aimed at tying down Ukrainian troops, similar to the situation in the Kharkiv region.
"They won’t reach Kyiv. If they manage to advance 10–15–20 kilometers, that’s the maximum that could happen. And they would simply keep us tied down, as in the Kharkiv region," Pivnenko said.
The National Guard commander also commented on the risk of Russian forces using Molniya strike drones if they make a possible advance toward Chernihiv.
"The Molniyas that are flying around are causing us very serious problems on the front. They could use them, for example, if they advance 20–30 kilometers in the Chernihiv direction," Pivnenko said.
At the same time, he stressed that Ukrainian forces are actively using interceptor drones not only against Shaheds, but also against other drones, including Mavics and Molniyas, as well as against Russian logistics.
Over the past several days, Ukrainian Defense Forces have made gains in the Kharkiv, Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk directions. In addition, Ukrainian troops have managed to stop several Russian offensive operations.
RBC-Ukraine reported that claims by Russian propaganda outlets and Russia’s Defense Ministry about the alleged encirclement of Ukrainian troops in the so-called Vovchansk pocket, as well as the capture of several settlements, are false.
