The large-scale attack on Russian regions on the night of January 14 was a special operation carried out by the Security Service of Ukraine and the Defense Forces. The targets included a chemical plant, ammunition depots, and more, RBC-Ukraine reports, citing its sources in the Security Service of Ukraine.

During the attack, the following were hit:

  • The chemical plant in the city of Aleksin, Tula region. After the drone attack, Ukraine's Security Service confirmed a large fire.
  • Depots of high-explosive aerial bombs, guided aerial bombs, and cruise missiles at the Engels airbase in the Saratov region. The fire hasn't been extinguished yet.
  • Saratov oil refinery. A large fire was confirmed.
  • Bryansk chemical plant. The missile hits the facility, and a large fire followed by detonations was confirmed.

"Ukraine's Security Service, together with the Defense Forces, continues to target enemy military sites and enterprises supporting the Russian military-industrial complex. Each hit on an ammunition depot, oil refinery, oil base, or chemical plant is a painful blow to Russia's ability to wage war in Ukraine," the source stated.

Strikes on Russian territory

Ukraine's Security Service, Ukraine Defense Intelligence, and the Defense Forces regularly strike military and strategic targets in Russia. The primary targets of such operations are ammunition depots, military bases, and critical energy infrastructure supporting the aggressor state's war efforts.

These actions aim to reduce the Russian army's combat capabilities, create psychological pressure on the enemy, and complicate logistics.

Recently, the Defense Forces attacked an oil depot in Russian Engels, which provided fuel for the "Engels-2" military airfield.
