Night strike by Russia on Sumy: Apartments in building destroyed, number of casualties increased
On the night of January 30, the enemy struck one of the high-rise buildings in the city of Sumy. As a result of the drone hit, apartments were destroyed, and the number of casualties has once again increased, according to the Ukrainian State Emergency Service's Telegram channel.
"On January 30, the enemy struck one of the 10-story residential buildings in the city of Sumy. As a result of the attack, 9 apartments and 12 balconies were reportedly destroyed," the message reads.
According to the report, emergency responders managed to rescue 4 people, including a child, and another 118 residents were evacuated. Preliminary information indicates that 9 people, including one child, have been injured as a result of the attack.

Additionally, at the scene, rescuers quickly set up a mobile invincibility point. Psychologists and medical personnel from the State Emergency Service (SES) are working, and two canine units have been deployed. Comprehensive assistance is being provided to citizens, and special equipment is being used for high-altitude work.
The SES added that emergency and search operations are still ongoing.
Overnight, the Sumy Regional Military Administration reported that, preliminarily, there was one confirmed fatality as a result of the attack. However, local authorities later denied this information.
Later, in reports from the police and the State Emergency Service (SES), only injuries were mentioned. Accordingly, this leads to the conclusion that the information about a fatality was not confirmed.
