On the night of January 29-30, Russian forces launched a drone attack on Ukraine, including the city of Sumy. As a result of the enemy attack, a drone struck a residential building, states the acting mayor of Sumy, Artem Kobzar.

"Another strike. A Shahed drone hit a residential building. The walls were torn apart, a woman is screaming 'help,' an ambulance is on-site," he said.

Kobzar added that the State Emergency Service (SES) is already working at the scene, and more detailed information will be provided later. He also shared the first footage of the aftermath of the attack.

The acting mayor informed that as a result of the enemy attack, one person was killed and another was injured.

Meanwhile, the Regional Military Administration also confirmed that, according to preliminary information, there is one fatality.

"Today, as a result of the overnight attack, an enemy drone struck a residential high-rise building in the city of Sumy. As a result of the attack, one person has been confirmed dead. The rescue operation is ongoing, and information is being updated. All relevant services are working at the impact site," the statement reads.

Kobzar informed that at 9 a.m. Kyiv time, a headquarters for addressing the consequences of the emergency situation will be set up in Sumy.

The Sumy City Council refuted information about a fatality due to the Shahed drone attack. It is now reported that four people were injured, including a 7-year-old child and an 18-year-old man.

Meanwhile, Artem Kobzar shared that SES employees are rescuing a woman who was trapped under a slab after the Russian strike.

The head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Volodymyr Artyukh, stated that, as a result of the Russian drone attack on a high-rise building in Sumy, one person did indeed die.

He also provided information about three injured individuals, including a child, which was previously known. However, earlier, it was reported that four people were injured.
