Massive Russian attack: Air defense successfully shot down 24 of 28 drones
Russian occupiers launched 28 kamikaze drones over Ukraine during the night of December 22. Air defense forces successfully shot down 24 of them, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
The launches originated from Kursk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russia), and Cape Chauda (occupied Crimea).
Air defense forces successfully destroyed 24 drones within the territories of the Kyiv, Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kherson, Zhytomyr, Rivne, and Khmelnytskyi regions.
To repel the aerial attack, aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, and mobile fire groups of the Air Force and Defense Forces of Ukraine were mobilized.
What is known about the night attack
Since the evening of December 21, the Ukrainian Air Force reported launches and movement of the Shaheds. Explosions due to the operation of air defense systems were heard in the capital, as well as in the Kyiv, Odesa, and Khmelnytskyi regions.
In Kyiv, fragments of a drone fell on a multi-story building, causing a fire. This occurred in the Solomianskyi district. Additionally, there is damage from debris in the Darnytskyi and Holosiivskyi districts.
In the capital, two people were injured as a result of the night attack, and one man was hospitalized.
In the Mykolaiv region, a fire broke out on one of the infrastructure objects due to the attack. In the Odesa region, port infrastructure was under attack, and a grain storage facility was damaged.
