Next Ramstein meeting date revealed
A new meeting on Ukraine's defense in the Ramstein format will take place next week. The meeting is scheduled for January 9, according to Radio Liberty.
“The next meeting in the Ramstein format will be held on January 9, 2025,” the agency reports.
According to the public relations office of the Ramstein air base, Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin will chair the meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine's defense.
The meeting will be held in person. This will be the 25th meeting of the Contact Group.
Earlier, Ukraine's Defense Minister Rustem Umerov said that the next meeting of the Ramstein would take place in January 2025. However, the head of the Defense Ministry did not announce the date of the meeting.
Ramstein format
After Russia's full-scale invasion, Ukraine's allies created a separate format to help Ukraine. The first meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group was held at the Ramstein Air Base in Germany. After that, the meetings of the partners were given the same name.
Ramstein meetings are held in person and online.
In October 2024, the next meeting of the partners was supposed to take place in Germany, to be chaired by US President Joe Biden. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was also expected to attend.
However, the face-to-face meeting was canceled as Biden postponed his visit to Germany due to the powerful hurricane that hit Florida.
