New Ukraine peace path? Trump envoy expected to meet Lukashenko – Reuters

US President Donald Trump’s special envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, is planning to meet with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in the coming days, according to Reuters.
Four informed sources told reporters that Kellogg plans to travel to Belarus amid stalled ceasefire negotiations between Ukraine and Russia.
According to the outlet, if the trip goes ahead, Trump’s special representative will become the highest-ranking US official to visit Belarus in recent years.
“The precise agenda of the meeting is unclear, though Kellogg in private has portrayed the trip as a step that could help jump-start peace talks aimed at ending Russia's war against Ukraine,” the statement said.
Peace talks on Ukraine
The US positions itself as a mediator between Ukraine and Russia in negotiations, though it has refrained from applying maximum pressure on Moscow.
On June 2, Ukraine and Russia held a second round of peace talks, during which they agreed on the exchange of prisoners and the bodies of fallen soldiers.
The Russian delegation presented a memorandum that effectively turned out to be an ultimatum.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy dismissed Moscow’s proposal as political spam and a PR stunt for the domestic audience.
Notably, in March 2025, Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko proposed hosting talks between Ukraine, the US, and Russia, with Belarus also taking part.
