The new head of Austria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Beate Meinl-Reisinger, has arrived in Kyiv, Vasyl Khymynets, Ambassador of Ukraine to Austria, reports.

"Welcome to Kyiv, Honorary Federal Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger," the ambassador wrote on his X account.

On March 3, Austria’s new government under Chancellor Christian Stocker took the oath of office.

Austria's support for Ukraine

Despite its neutral stance, Austria has provided political, humanitarian, and economic support to Ukraine since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion. Austria also joined the EU sanctions against Russia, provided financial aid to Ukraine, and welcomed thousands of Ukrainian refugees.

At the same time, Vienna does not supply lethal weapons, citing its policy of neutrality, but does provide defensive equipment and humanitarian aid.

As previously reported, in May 2024, Austria decided to create a special fund of 500 million euros to support exports and investments to Ukraine.
