New Google Maps feature helps find places in seconds, no address needed

Google has introduced a smart new feature to the Maps app on iOS that can extract addresses from screenshots saved on your device. It is powered by Gemini AI and started rolling out to some users, reports Android Authority.
Update details
Now, if you take a screenshot that includes an address, such as a café, hotel, or event, Google Maps can automatically detect it and suggest saving the place to a custom list you can return to anytime. These screenshots appear under the "You" tab, marked with a "Try it out!" label. Tapping on it opens a brief tutorial video and lets users test the feature right away.
To enable this function, the app needs permission to access your photos. Users can choose the level of access they prefer: full, partial, or manual.
Once activated, Maps will automatically monitor new screenshots containing location data. When such an image is detected, A prompt will appear letting you know that "new places are ready for review". You can either save the location or dismiss it. Manual uploads are also possible by navigating to the "You" tab, where a screenshots section is available.
Currently, the feature is only available to iOS users. Google has confirmed that it will be coming to Android, though no exact timeline has been announced.
