New German Foreign Minister arrives in Kyiv: Details

The head of the German Foreign Ministry, Johann Wadephul, has arrived in Kyiv with a commitment to help Ukraine, according to Deutsche Welle.
Upon arrival, Wadephul stated that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is trying to subjugate Ukraine and independently determine its destiny.
“He is attacking Ukrainians with the brutal terror of bombings... But despite all the destruction and all the terror, Ukrainians daily again and again defend their country, their freedom, and their future with determination. They demonstrate incredible courage, strength, and endurance. This deserves our highest respect,” he stated.
The head of the ministry also promised that Germany will continue to firmly stand on Ukraine’s side and help it successfully defend itself with humanitarian and economic aid, modern air defense systems, and other weapons. In particular, he noted that “with this commitment, I have come to Kyiv today.”
Issue of ending the war
Wadephul added that Ukraine has repeatedly demonstrated its readiness to end the full-scale war through serious negotiations. In contrast, Russia does not wish to retreat from any of its ultimatums, as it desires the country's capitulation.
“And as long as this is the case, we will continue to limit Putin’s ability to finance this criminal war with the help of sanctions. We are working intensively on this within the European Union and together with G7 partners,” he said.
Support for Ukraine from Germany
Germany actively supports Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression by providing military, humanitarian, and financial assistance.
In addition to supplying weapons, Berlin participates in international efforts to rebuild infrastructure, strengthen Ukraine’s energy resilience, and assist displaced persons. Germany also plays a role in shaping a unified European Union position in support of Ukraine.
In early May, Berlin delivered a new military aid package to Ukraine. It included IRIS-T missiles, ammunition, drones, demining equipment, and more.
