New gas field with reserves of 1 bln cu m discovered in Ukraine
"UkrGasVydobuvannya" (the most significant Ukrainian gas producer) has discovered a new gas field. The oil and gas site was explored "from scratch," and the deposit was opened with a good depth of almost 4,000 meters, according to the company's press service.
According to the press service, experts conducted a 3D seismic survey before drilling. The obtained geological information indicates that the reserves of the new field could amount to 1 billion cubic meters of gas.
"This is not the first discovery of new hydrocarbon deposits this year. By increasing reserves, we are creating prospects for sustainable growth in gas extraction," said Oleg Tolmachev, the acting CEO of "UkrGasVydobuvannya."
He added that "UkrGasVydobuvannya" will continue the geological exploration program in this field and plans to drill new wells here.
"Naftogaz" plans
Earlier, the head of NJSC, "Naftogaz of Ukraine," Oleksiy Chernyshov, stated that Ukraine could go through the heating season of 2023-2024 for the first time without gas imports.
According to him, in 2023, Naftogaz plans to extract 13.5 billion cubic meters of gas. There are also certain expectations from private extractors.
In the first half of 2023, "UkrGasVydobuvannya" operated 13 wells with high (over 100,000 per day) gas production rates after drilling and significant repairs.
