New European power - Sybiha names key discovery of Munich 2025

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said that the main discovery of the Munich Security Conference 2025 was the new power of Europe. At the same time, the United States plays a very important role, the minister emphasized.
According to him, Munich 2025 can only be compared to Munich 2022 in terms of emotions.
"In the preceding weeks and days, global diplomacy has entered a period of turbulence. So I can honestly say that we went on this visit with our 'diplomatic seat belts' fastened. The first day was really hard. But we withstood the blow, and the second day followed a different dynamic," the statement said.
The minister noted that all the media attention was focused on the statements made by representatives of the new US administration, as they worried everyone in Ukraine and abroad. In turn, the Ukrainian delegation, led by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, "played a very firm and unconventional diplomatic game to get this process on track," and eventually succeeded.
Sybiha emphasized that a historic process was taking place under the influence of the American statements.
"This key discovery of Munich 2025 was the new power of Europe. It was a moment of truth for Europeans. Participating in some of the negotiations, I realized that I had not seen such expressions on the faces of some of our European partners since 2022. There was a mixture of indignation, shock, but also readiness for action," the minister said.
He informed that Ukraine used the talks at this time to really wake up Europe, to channel outrage and shock "into concrete actions for itself and us," as Ukrainian and European security is indivisible. According to Sybiha, Europe has really started to act.
He also emphasized that the role of the United States remains very important, and without the United States there will be no guarantors of security or stability.
"A new era is beginning now. It should be an era of alliance with an awareness of the importance and role of everyone, and respect for everyone's contribution. Europe will take on more responsibility. But the role of the United States remains very important. Without the United States, neither security guarantees nor long-term stability will take off. Therefore, we must strengthen transatlantic unity based on mutual respect and fair burden-sharing," the minister wrote.
The Foreign Minister added that Ukraine already plays an important role and carries a very significant part of the security burden. According to him, this should also determine Ukraine's key role in the security architecture, which is gradually taking on more and more clear outlines.
In addition, according to the minister, Russia is afraid that it will end not only with the new power of the United States but also of Europe.
"We are interested in equal and effective cooperation between both sides of the Atlantic. And by the way, this is the biggest fear of the Russians that it will end not only with a new US power but also with a new European power. It's all coming to that now," he summarized.
