In the revised draft of the US peace plan, the wording about "limiting" the size of the Ukrainian army to 600,000 personnel has been removed. Instead, it now states that the size of the Ukrainian army will "remain" at a certain level, according to an informed source.
According to him, the revised wording is fundamentally different from the previous version and does not imply any limitation on the army.
"The words 'limited to 600,000' were basically removed. Instead, the word 'remains' is used, followed by the rest of the sentence in the revised version. And the word 'remains' has nothing to do with 'limited,'" the source explained.
Trump’s peace plan for Ukraine
Last week, leading Western media published a draft of the US peace plan, which contained 28 points.
According to unofficial information, one of the points concerned setting a limit on the size of the Ukrainian Armed Forces at 600,000 troops. The document also included other provisions that were seen as concessions to Russia.
Ukraine sent a delegation to Geneva for talks with US representatives to review the most controversial provisions of the document.
After the consultations, Oleksandr Bevz, adviser to the head of the Office of the President, said that some points had been removed from the draft, while others were revised.
In addition, an RBC-Ukraine source noted that after the Geneva talks, the plan should no longer include requirements for a strict limit on the number of Ukrainian troops.
Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov also stated that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy may travel to Washington to meet with US President Donald Trump on the peace plan already "on the next available date in November."
