New approaches needed: Ukraine's MoD announces decision to change Armed Forces leadership
The war in Ukraine continues to evolve and requires new approaches, as well as strategies. A decision has been made regarding the necessity of changing the leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), according to the Facebook page of the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Rustem Umerov.
As the Minister of Defense notes, Valerii Zaluzhnyi faced one of the most challenging tasks - to lead Ukrainian soldiers during the war with Russia. At the same time, the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Ukrainians have demonstrated to the world that Ukraine will fight for its own despite the enemy it faces.
During the war, the Ukrainian military repelled the Russian onslaught, defended statehood, and continue to defend our independence every day. However, the war is not the same.
"War is changing and requires changes. The combat actions of 2022, 2023, and 2024 are three different realities. 2024 will bring new changes that we must be prepared for. New approaches, new strategies are needed," Umerov adds.
According to the minister, today, February 8, a decision was made regarding the need to change the leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"Sincerely grateful to Valerii Fedorovych for all the achievements and victories. Glory to Ukraine," the minister adds.
Rumors of Zaluzhnyi's dismissal
About a week ago, rumors began circulating online that the President of Ukraine had allegedly decided to dismiss the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valerii Zaluzhny. More details on this can be found in the materials of RBC-Ukraine.
Today, on February 8, a personal meeting took place between Zaluzhnyi and the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy. As noted by the latter, he discussed with the Ukraine's army chief the issue of who could be in the updated leadership of the army.
Zaluzhnyi, for his part, added that the conversation was important and serious. In particular, decisions were made regarding the need to change approaches and strategies.
