A dentist has stated that maintaining healthy teeth requires more than just brushing twice a day.

What exactly needs to be done to keep your teeth healthy is explained by Daily Express.

When not to eat to avoid damaging your teeth

According to dentist Alex Foo, there is a two-hour window during the day when you should never eat, as it can negatively affect your teeth.

While it's obviously important to regularly brush and floss your teeth, avoiding food for two hours after lunch can also help keep your teeth strong and healthy.

It is crucial to give your teeth a couple of hours to rest after lunch.

"Allowing your saliva to naturally clean and remineralize your teeth for at least two hours after a meal can greatly reduce the risk of cavities and enamel erosion," the doctor said.

How to protect your teeth

To protect your teeth, Dr. Foo advises avoiding snacks and drinks, except for water, for two hours after lunch. This allows your saliva to do its job, keeping your teeth clean and protecting them from cavities.

Brushing before breakfast also shields your teeth from harmful acids in food and drinks, while providing fresh breath to start the day. If you choose to brush after breakfast, wait 30 minutes to allow your enamel to remineralize and strengthen after exposure to acidic foods. Drinking water can help speed up this process.
