The Netherlands will procure 51 mobile radar systems for drone detection for Ukraine. They are set to be delivered by the end of 2024, according to Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans and the country’s Ministry of Defense.

Brekelmans stated that, given Russia's shameless attacks with drones, reliable air defense is crucial. Therefore, the Netherlands has decided to procure 51 mobile radars for Ukraine. The supplier of these radars is the Dutch company Robin Radar Systems. They will be in Ukraine this year, according to the Minister.

Brekelmans noted that the systems are capable of detecting small drones and distinguishing them from birds. A unique feature of the radars is that they operate on a mobile platform.

The radars monitor the environment for the presence of drones, even at high speeds.

Since the detection system is mobile, it is harder for the enemy to locate and neutralize the radar. This allows for continuous detection of enemy drones and their subsequent neutralization.

Assistance to Ukraine from the Netherlands

In July, Ukraine received its first F-16 fighter jets from the Netherlands.

It was previously reported that the Netherlands would allocate 300 million euros for ammunition for the F-16s.

Additionally, the Netherlands and Denmark will transfer a batch of Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine. The combat vehicles were repaired and tested in recent months.
