Netherlands and Denmark to deliver batch of Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine
The 14 Leopard 2A4 tanks purchased by the Netherlands and Denmark for Ukraine will be shipped this summer. The combat vehicles have been repaired and tested in recent months, according to Dutch Defense Minister Ruben Brekelmans.
The Netherlands and Denmark purchased 14 used Leopard 2A4 tanks, which were repaired by the German company Rheinmetall. Ukraine will be able to use them in the fight against Russian aggression.
The last 2 tanks are undergoing verification tests, and the first 12 are ready for shipment. All 14 tanks will be delivered by the end of the summer.
“Ukraine urgently needs additional military support because of the heavy fighting. These tanks can play an important role in protecting the Ukrainian army from Russian troops,” the Minister says.
He notes that the Netherlands will continue to support Ukraine and its allies and partners for as long as it is needed.
Netherlands' aid to Ukraine
The Netherlands provides Ukraine with comprehensive support. Amsterdam has allocated over 1 billion euros in direct budget support to Ukraine. These funds help to support the functioning of the Ukrainian government, provide social benefits, and finance basic public services.
Earlier it became known that the Netherlands will allocate 300 million euros for ammunition for F-16 fighter jets that Ukraine will soon receive.
