Netherlands' far-right victory: Defense Minister expects aid to Ukraine to remain
Dutch Defense Minister Kajsa Ollongren expects her country to continue supporting Ukraine despite the victory of the far-right Party for Freedom in parliamentary elections, The Guardian reports.
According to her, there is broad support in the Netherlands for assisting Ukraine in its war against Russia.
"I hope and expect this will not change in the new parliament. But the PVV is now the largest party and they have never been enthusiastic about support to Ukraine. They have even been pro-Russia at times. So that has me worried," clarified Ollongren.
Elections in the Netherlands
Recall that parliamentary elections took place in the Netherlands. The Party for Freedom, with far-right views, took the first place. It advocates for limiting migration and wants to cease military aid to Ukraine.
Political analyst Volodymyr Fesenko, in a comment to RBC-Ukraine, explained that the supply of F-16 fighters to Ukraine could be at risk. However, this is only possible if the ruling coalition, which has not yet been formed, supports such a decision.
The Party for Freedom is also against the expansion of the European Union. It does not want to include not only Ukraine but also other countries in the bloc.
