On the night of August 16, Russia carried out an attack on Ukraine, launching an Iskander-M ballistic missile along with 85 Shahed strike drones and decoy drones.

The strikes were carried out from Russia's Kursk, Oryol, and Rostov regions, as well as from temporarily occupied Crimea.

Frontline areas of the Sumy, Donetsk, Chernihiv, and Dnipropetrovsk regions came under attack.

The response involved electronic warfare units, mobile fire groups, and air defense forces.

According to preliminary data as of 08:00, 61 enemy drones were shot down or suppressed. At the same time, the missile and 24 drones hit 12 sites in different regions.

Russia's attack on Ukraine

As a reminder, on August 15 Russian occupiers attacked a market in the center of Sumy with a drone. Rescuers extinguished the fire.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene and began putting out the fires. Due to the threat of repeat strikes, they had to temporarily suspend their work.

In addition, two police officers were killed in Sviatohirsk on duty. Their vehicle came under Russian fire on Friday, August 15.

Russian forces also shelled Dnipro with ballistic missiles yesterday. At least two explosions were heard.
