Netflix launches its biggest update in 12 years: What changes users can expect

Netflix is beginning a global rollout of a redesigned interface for its app on TVs and TV streaming devices. The updated user experience is aimed at making navigation simpler, recommendations more accurate, and the main menu more personalized. Here are the details of this large-scale redesign of the Netflix app's user interface.
What has changed in the TV app
The main goal of the update is to make content selection easier for users and reduce "choice fatigue."
Simplified navigation
The menu with the main sections — "Search," "Series," "Movies," "Games," and "My Netflix" — will now always be visible at the top of the screen for quick access.
Interactive real-time recommendations
The home page will "learn" from your viewing habits, reactions, and searches. The algorithms will start adjusting to your current mood and preferences, offering personalized content selections on the fly.
"My Netflix" section
This is a personal hub where all key elements are gathered: continue watching, watchlist, and premiere reminders.
More details about each title
Now, before launching a series or movie, you’ll immediately see its description, duration, achievements, ranking in the top list, and cast, without needing to open a separate page.

What has changed in the Netflix mobile app
A new vertical feed will showcase short clips from series and movies. It’s designed to quickly grab your attention — users can start watching immediately or save content to "My List" for later.
On iOS devices, a beta version with generative AI support will be available. It will allow users to search for movies and series using natural language — for example, with a query like: "I want to watch a drama, but not a very sad one."
When to expect the update
The new TV version of Netflix will begin rolling out on May 19 and will become available on most TVs and streaming devices. Users will be notified of the transition through a welcome message that highlights the new features.
