NATO summit in Türkiye confirmed for July 2026 with leaders gathering in Ankara

The next NATO summit will take place on July 7–8, 2026. Türkiye has been chosen as the host country, according to the Alliance's press service.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte announced on Tuesday, August 19, that the summit will take place on July 7 and 8, 2026. It will be held at the Beştepe Presidential Complex in Ankara, the capital of Türkiye.
"I want to thank Türkiye for hosting this important meeting. Türkiye has been a strong NATO Ally for more than 70 years, making invaluable contributions to our shared security," Rutte said.
This is the second time Türkiye will host a NATO summit. The first Turkish summit was held in Istanbul in 2004.
The previous NATO leaders' summit took place on June 24–25 in The Hague, the Netherlands. It was the first summit under the leadership of Mark Rutte, the new NATO Secretary General.
On the sidelines of the summit, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump held a meeting.
In the final statement of the summit, the leaders of the Alliance decided to soften the wording regarding Russia. More details on this can be found in the material by RBC-Ukraine.
