Additional assistance to Ukraine from the NATO fund of $100 billion, proposed by Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, is likely to be marginal, reports Bloomberg.

An unnamed diplomat informed the publication that the sum of $100 billion is too large, so within the framework of the fund, bilateral donations that member countries provide to Ukraine will have to be taken into account.

"Any additional fresh funding would likely be marginal," the journalists specify, citing a source.

$100 billion fund

On Tuesday, April 2, Bloomberg reported that NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg proposed creating a $100 billion fund from allies' contributions to aid Ukraine, which would operate for five years.

As specified by the publication, such a decision could be made at the NATO summit scheduled for July 9-11 in Washington.

Meanwhile, Stoltenberg, commenting on media speculation, declined to disclose details, stating only that Ukraine "needs more money."

In response to the initiative, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius stated that national contributions should be taken into account within the fund.
