NATO countries attacked. Three pro-Russian hackers arrested in Spain
The Spanish Civil Guard has detained three pro-Russian hackers. They are likely members of a group that attacks Ukrainian-supporting NATO countries, reports Europa Press.
The hackers were detained in the Balearic Islands and Andalusia. Their homes were searched and materials were seized.
Law enforcement officials believe that the cybercriminals belong to the NoName057(16) hacker group. It emerged after the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The group claims to be “responding to the hostile and openly anti-Russian actions of Western Russophobes.”
NoName057(16) hackers have been conducting DDoS attacks on the websites of public and private companies, government organizations, and critical infrastructure of Ukraine's allies, including NATO countries.
Last month, the NoName057(16) group attacked a division of Santa Barbara Systems, a company based in Spain. The company repairs Leopard tanks for delivery to Ukraine.
The Spanish Civil Guard said it continued its investigation to identify the attackers.
Attacks by Russian hackers
Russian hackers are constantly attacking Ukrainian resources and even critical infrastructure. Cyberattacks are also carried out against Ukraine's allies.
In May, Polish government agencies were subjected to a cyberattack. Poland said that a group linked to Russian special services was behind the attack.
Earlier, activists from the Cyber Resistance group received lists of Russian intelligence officers responsible for psyop to disrupt mobilization in Ukraine.
