NATO allies will continue to assist Ukraine. The involvement of North Korea's troops will only increase losses among the Russian military, NATO Secretary General says.

He says North Korean troops are involved in the Kursk region, which in itself indicates a significant escalation of the war.

According to him, this is another gap in NATO's security documents and it is a call to end this aggressive activity as soon as possible and to stop Russia's military aggression against Ukraine.

He notes that it also addresses issues related to the supply of missiles that intensify military aggression, technological support for Putin's war against Ukraine, and the defense of our democratic values.

“But the deployment of North Korean troops to Kursk is also a sign of [President] Putin's growing desperation. Over 600,000 Russian soldiers have been killed or wounded in [President] Putin's war, and he is unable to sustain his assault to Ukraine without foreign support. This is because the Ukrainians are fighting back with courage, resilience, and ingenuity,” Rutte says.

The NATO Secretary General says that today they talked about additional military support for Ukraine. “We are actively consulting within the Alliance, with Ukraine, and with our Indo-Pacific partners on these developments, and we continue to monitor the situation closely. Later today, I have scheduled calls with President Yoon of the Republic of Korea, and with Defence Minister Umerov of Ukraine,” he adds.

DPRK's participation in the war against Ukraine

North Korea has sent several thousand soldiers to Russia to participate in the war against Ukraine. According to the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, some North Korean troops are already in the Kursk direction.

Because of this, South Korea is considering lifting the ban on the supply of lethal weapons to Ukraine.

In addition, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis said that it was time for European countries to reconsider French President Emmanuel Macron's idea to deploy troops in Ukraine because of North Korea's involvement in the war.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russia's losses in the war against Ukraine amounted to 650,000 killed and wounded.
