Massive fires have been reported across the Mykolaiv region as of this evening, including several blazes within the city of Mykolaiv itself, according to the Ukrainian State Emergency Service’s Facebook page.

Officials say that over 50 fires have broken out across the region, engulfing more than 400 hectares. In the city alone, three major fires are currently raging.

“In the city, three large-scale fires are active, with flames driven by strong winds approaching residential areas. In the Ternivka neighborhood, where the fire has spread across approximately 10 hectares, two homes and three outbuildings have already been damaged,” the report states.

The State Emergency Service emphasized that firefighters are taking all necessary measures to combat the fires, but strong gusty winds are complicating the efforts. Reserve fire crews have been deployed, and equipment for water delivery is being used to aid in firefighting.

“Local fire brigades are assisting the firefighters, and local businesses are providing special equipment and water trucks to support the operation,” the State Emergency Service added.

Fires in Ukraine

It’s important to note that, in addition to wildfires caused by natural factors, fires regularly break out across Ukraine due to Russian attacks.

On the night of June 30, Russian forces targeted the Kharkiv region with drone strikes, sparking fires in several communities. Various types of buildings were reported to be burning after the attacks.

We also reported that on June 26, the enemy launched drone strikes on residential areas in Kherson’s Korabelnyi district, resulting in fires that damaged around a dozen homes.
