Residents of Mykolaiv will, for the first time since 2022, receive fresh water, which, in two weeks, will completely replace the salty water in all city systems. This will become possible after the launch of the new main water pipeline, says Ukraine's Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko on Telegram.

The water pipeline will provide 120,000 cubic meters of water per day for households and 50,000 cubic meters for the irrigation of agricultural lands.

"The pipes and pumps are placed underground, and shelters for workers are now being completed. There are remote control panels, backup power, and a protection system against attacks. Construction is already at the final stage," wrote Svyrydenko.

According to her, last year nearly nine billion hryvnias were allocated from the state budget for the construction of a new water intake system from the Southern Bug River.

Construction work began in January 2025, and in August, the pipeline started test operations. Water has already begun to be fully supplied to the water utility systems and reservoirs.

The head of government reminded that in 2022, the Russians blew up a key water pipeline that supplied the city. Since then, 500,000 residents of Mykolaiv have lived without a constant water supply.

Mykolaiv is under periodic shelling from the nearby front line. As a result, the city faces power outages, which complicates the operation of wells and the stable supply of water.
