Mykhailo Drapatyi steps down as Commander of Ukrainian Ground Forces

Mykhailo Drapatyi is no longer serving as the Commander of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, he confirms this on his Telegram page.
"I have completed six months of work as Commander of the Ground Forces. I leave the position with a clear conscience – and with hope that everything important we have started will be continued and brought to completion," he wrote.
According to Drapatyi, the Ground Forces Command is "only at the beginning of changes."
Drapatyi's resignation
On June 1, Russian forces struck a training unit of the Ukrainian Ground Forces. As a result, 12 people were killed and more than 60 were injured.
In the wake of the incident, Ground Forces Commander Mykhailo Drapatyi resigned, as he felt responsible for the tragedy at the training ground.
Following this, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy accepted Drapatyi’s resignation and appointed him Commander of the Joint Forces instead.
It is still unknown who will replace Drapatyi as Commander of the Ground Forces.
