Musk tried to disrupt Ukraine's attack on the Russian navy - CNN
American billionaire Elon Musk secretly ordered engineers to turn off the Starlink satellite network near the Crimean coast last year to prevent Ukraine from launching a covert attack on the Russian navy, according to CNN.
Musk's decision, which prompted Ukrainian officials to request that he reactivate the satellites, was driven by acute fears of a Russian nuclear response, which Musk reportedly discussed with senior Russian officials.
Twitter, a social media platform owned by Elon Musk, played a significant role in amplifying Russian propaganda about Ukraine before the start of the war.
Starlink in Ukraine
At the beginning of the full-scale war, Elon Musk's company provided Ukraine with Starlink terminals to ensure communication on the frontlines and border regions. According to recent data, Ukraine received 42,000 terminals donated by SpaceX and its Ukrainian partners.
Elon Musk had previously stated that Russia could disrupt the unified Starlink communication system on the Ukrainian frontlines. He also warned that he might deactivate the terminals due to the significant costs associated with their maintenance.
