Elon Musk, the founder of US aerospace company SpaceX and a billionaire, responded to a post by Ukraine’s Minister of Defense Mykhailo Fedorov, who thanked him for helping resolve issues related to Starlink terminals used by Russia, according to Musk’s post.
Fedorov said he was grateful to Musk for his swift response to the problem of Starlink terminals being used by the Russian army. He also recalled that at the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Musk provided Ukraine with a batch of Starlink terminals, which played a critical role.
"You’re most welcome," Musk replied, reposting Fedorov’s message.
Earlier, it emerged that Russia is increasingly using Starlink on drones to bypass Ukraine’s air defenses. The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported that Russian forces have been installing Starlink terminals on their Molniya-2 strike drones.
It was also reported that Starlink is being used on new Russian BM-35 drones, as well as Iranian-made Shahed drones and their Russian-made copies. On January 27, Fedorov officially confirmed that Russian forces had begun using drones equipped with Starlink systems.
On January 29, Fedorov said that Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense and SpaceX were already working together to address the issue of Starlink being used on Russian unmanned aerial vehicles.
