Musk made decisive contribution to Trump's campaign in swing states
Elon Musk has allocated approximately $75 million to his support group for Donald Trump over the past three months, highlighting the billionaire's pivotal role for the Republican candidate ahead of the November 5 presidential election, citing Politico.
According to information submitted to the Federal Election Commission, America PAC, an organization focused on mobilizing voters in swing states that could determine the election outcome, spent around $72 million of that sum between July and September.
This is more than any other pro-Trump fund aimed at voter outreach. Trump’s campaign heavily relies on external groups for voter mobilization, meaning that the super PAC founded by Musk — the world's richest man — plays a massive role in the tight race between Trump and Democrat Kamala Harris.
At the time, Musk, the CEO of electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla, was the sole sponsor of the group.
Musk, who has previously said that he voted for Democratic presidential candidates, has made a sharp rightward turn in this election. He endorsed Trump in July and appeared with him at a rally in Pennsylvania earlier this month.
On Wednesday, Musk announced on X (formerly Twitter) that he would "be giving a series of talks throughout Pennsylvania," less than two weeks after his appearance with Trump in the state.
He said that people only needed to sign a petition on his America PAC website to attend his speeches, which are scheduled from tomorrow night through Monday.
Last week, Reuters, citing a source, reported that Musk planned to ramp up his campaigning efforts for Trump in Pennsylvania, considered a key battleground state for both Trump and his Democratic opponent, Harris, in the race for the White House.
Musk’s donations to America PAC place him in an exclusive club of Republican megadonors, which also includes banking heir Timothy Mellon and casino magnate Miriam Adelson.
However, it was previously revealed that Musk had been secretly funding conservative political groups for years before publicly endorsing Trump.
America PAC is focused on encouraging Americans who support Trump but do not always vote to participate in this election cycle — a high-risk and labor-intensive strategy for Trump’s re-election campaign.
