Sam Altman and Elon Musk continue their rivalry not only in the field of AI but also in their ambition to create a so-called "super app" — a universal platform that combines finance, social networks, games, and other services, reports The Verge.

Details about Altman’s app

Altman presented his vision during a presentation in San Francisco as co-founder and head of Tools for Humanity, the company behind the cryptocurrency Worldcoin, recently launched in the United States.

Worldcoin is distributed through special devices — "orbs" that scan users' eyes and are appearing in retail stores across the country.
The received token is used in the World App, which combines the functions of a crypto wallet, a social platform, and a hub for mini-apps.

According to the company, in the last six months, the user base has grown to 26 million users, of which 12 million have completed verification through the "orbs."
With the World App, users can exchange messages via World ID, which is based on blockchain, as well as send and receive cryptocurrency.
Additionally, dozens of mini-apps from third-party developers are already available inside the app.

What Musk wants to change

At the same time, X (formerly Twitter), owned by Elon Musk, is also moving toward the super app format.
In 2024, the platform plans to launch money transfer features in partnership with Visa.

In parallel, Tools for Humanity has also signed an agreement with Visa to issue a debit card, which can be used to pay with Worldcoin and receive bonuses for AI subscriptions.

The World ID system is also being considered as a tool to fight bots, which Musk declared as one of his key goals when acquiring Twitter.
In the future, World ID is expected to become a paid service for developers.

Among the guests at the presentation were also representatives from OpenAI. There were rumors about a possible partnership between OpenAI and Tools for Humanity in creating a new social platform. Alex Blania confirmed openness to such cooperation and promised more details in the future.
