A series of explosions were heard in Kharkiv on the night of December 20, reports RBC-Ukraine with reference to its correspondent.

At least two explosions occurred in the city. The police of the Kharkiv region called not to leave the shelters until the air raid alert was canceled.

"Do not leave the shelter until the air raid alarm goes off. Report any enemy shell hits or casualties to the special police line 102," police officers say.

Brigadier General Serhiy Melnyk confirms that the Russians had launched attacks on the city. "Kharkiv residents should take cover, the enemy is striking," Melnyk says. He also says that an enemy missile is in the air again.

"Do not leave the shelters!" the general urges.

Air alert has been declared in the city and the region.

Update 01:17: According to General Serhiy Melnyk, there are no missiles in the airspace, but the threat of missile strikes remains.

"At the moment, there are no missiles in the air. The enemy has once again attacked the Kharkiv region. The threat of new missile strikes remains, so do not leave the shelter until the air threat is over! Information on casualties and damage is being established," the general said.

Update 01:35: According to Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov, the arrivals were near residential buildings in one of the most affected districts of the city.

"Preliminary, at least two arrivals in one of the most affected districts of Kharkiv, near residential buildings. Rescuers of the State Emergency Service are now working at the scene. Information about the victims and destruction is being clarified," says the mayor.

Update 07:08: Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov says that the strikes hit the territory of one of the transport depots.

"Nighttime missile strikes hit the territory of one of the transport depots, where there is no one alive because of enemy shelling. This is a purely civilian facility," the mayor says.

Earlier an explosion occurred in Kharkiv on the night of December 15. According to police, garages, a shop, outbuildings, and a private car were damaged.

In early December, the Russians attacked Kharkiv with S-300 missiles. The enemy struck at least five times, destroying infrastructure and causing casualties.
