People over 50 should take care of their health and consume healthy foods. One of them is fish, but choosing the most vitamin-rich type can be difficult.

- reduce inflammation in the body
- improve brain function and memory
- reduce the risk of dementia
- strengthen bones and joints.
In addition, herring contains vitamin B12, which:
- helps the body produce red blood cells
- reduces the risk of developing anemia
- supports the health of the nervous system
- reduces the risk of developing depression.

Herring also contains vitamin D, which strengthens bones and teeth, reduces the risk of cancer, and supports the immune system. Selenium, also found in this fish, strengthens the body and acts as a powerful antioxidant. The benefits of iodine should not be ignored either, as it improves the function of the thyroid gland and helps regulate metabolism.
"In terms of long-chain (marine) Omega-3 fatty acids content, herring surpasses salmon. All other types of fish and seafood lag far behind. To obtain the target amount of omega-3, you should consume two servings of herring, 200 grams each, per week," Shvets explained.
