Residents of the Moscow region reported power outages on the evening of October 31, according to local Telegram channels.

Residents in the area reported that the lights in their homes and on the streets began to go out in the evening.

Local media are publishing videos showing darkened streets.

They also wrote that the power outage occurred due to an emergency situation in the power grid.

Earlier, local social media channels had reported information about unidentified drones approaching the Russian capital.

At 11:40 p.m., Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin announced that one drone had been shot down on its approach to the city.

The authorities have not yet provided any official comments regarding the blackout.

Attacks on Russian energy facilities

As previously reported by RBC-Ukraine, drones attacked energy facilities in three Russian regions during the night of October 31.

In Oryol, following a strike on a thermal power plant, part of the city was left without electricity. According to Russian Telegram channels, a drone hit an open distribution unit.

At the Vladimirskaya substation, a fire broke out after a drone attack. The 750 kV substation is one of the key high-voltage stations in the energy ring around Moscow and transmits power from nuclear and thermal power plants (Smolensk, Kostroma, Ryazan) toward the capital and central regions.

Residents of Yaroslavl reported explosions near the Slavneft-YANOS oil refinery. The local airport in Yaroslavl was also closed during the attack.

Earlier, explosions were reported in the Moscow region. Russian media, citing eyewitnesses, reported three explosions in Kolomna near Moscow.
