Explosions were heard on Russian territory overnight on October 31. Drones struck energy facilities in three regions simultaneously, according to the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation Andriy Kovalenko and the Center for Strategic Communications SPRAVDI.
Oryol region
In Oryol, part of the city was left without electricity after a strike on a thermal power plant (CHP). According to Russian Telegram channels, a drone hit an open switchgear.
Vladimir
A fire broke out at the Vladimirskaya substation after a drone attack. The 750 kV substation is one of the key high-voltage stations in the power ring around Moscow and transmits electricity from nuclear and thermal power plants (Smolensk, Kostroma, Ryazan) toward the capital and central regions.
“As a result of constant Russian attacks on our energy infrastructure, the Vladimirskaya 750 kV substation suddenly stopped operating... Russia attacks our energy sector but cannot protect its own. The mirror works,” Kovalenko emphasized.
The substation transmits electricity from nuclear and thermal power plants (including Smolensk, Kostroma, and Ryazan) toward the Russian capital and central regions.
Yaroslavl
Residents reported explosions in the area of the Slavneft-YANOS oil refinery.
During the attack, the local airport in Yaroslavl was also closed. The regional governor confirmed the attack but did not provide details on the consequences.
As the Commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems Force, Robert 'Madiar' Brovdi, noted, during the night operation, drones and other components of the strike system worked efficiently.
“The swamps were hitting properly tonight. The General Staff will publish [details], although the worm recon has already posted everything itself,” he emphasized.
Attacks on Russia
Russians reported attacks in major cities overnight. Explosions were heard in Yaroslavl and Vladimir. Witnesses posted footage of explosions on the outskirts of the city on social media.
It was also loud in Oryol — the moment of the explosion at the CHP in Oryol was caught on video by eyewitnesses.
Before that, explosions were reported in the Moscow region. Russian media, citing eyewitnesses, wrote about three explosions in Kolomna, Moscow region.
