Moment has come for Putin: UK responds to ceasefire proposal in Ukraine

The United Kingdom has urged Russia to commit to a ceasefire in Ukraine, calling for a complete cessation of hostilities, Reuters informs.
"Ukraine has committed to a full ceasefire. We urge Russia to do the same," said a spokesperson for the British Foreign Ministry.
According to the spokesperson, the pause would provide an opportunity to negotiate a fair and lasting peace.
"Now is the moment for Putin to show he is serious about peace by ending his horrible invasion," said a statement from the British Foreign Ministry.
Ceasefire for Easter in Ukraine
Before Easter, on April 19, Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin announced a unilateral 30-hour ceasefire in Ukraine.
This came after Washington stated that it could pull out of peace talks within days if Moscow and Kyiv fail to show a willingness to end the war.
However, the ceasefire declared by Putin remained only on paper. Despite the announced truce from the Russian Federation starting on the evening of April 19, there were 127 combat clashes on the front lines in Ukraine that day.
Specifically, between 6:00 PM yesterday and midnight today, there were 387 shelling incidents and 19 assault actions by the Russian army. Russian forces used drones 290 times.
