Russia is losing the war it started. To compensate for its defeat, it continues to attack peaceful Ukrainians, according to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
Von der Leyen promises anti-ballistic defenses
According to the senior EU official, Russia's motives are clear.
"And it is retaliating by targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure," von der Leyen said.
She noted that the European Commission is working with EU member states and partners. The goal is to support Ukraine's anti-missile capabilities.
"So that Ukraine has the means to prevent the loss of lives," von der Leyen said.
She is convinced that this is "the most urgent of priorities."
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that Russian forces deliberately targeted the premises of Fora and Yves Rocher warehouses in the Kyiv region on the night of August 20. The facilities sustained significant damage.
It was also reported that Russia launched a combined attack on the night of August 20. Russian forces used ballistic and cruise missiles as well as drones to strike Kyiv and the Kyiv region. There were fatalities and dozens of people injured in Kyiv and Brovary.
In addition, Russian forces struck food warehouses and Red Cross facilities in Boryspil district overnight. The attack on Kyiv and the region lasted nearly nine hours.
