Moldova to call on Russia to withdraw troops from its territory at OSCE meeting
Moldova plans to call on Russia to withdraw its troops from the territory of the unrecognized Transnistria at the meeting of the OSCE Council of Ministers, according to Moldova's Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Nicu Popescu.
"The delegation of the Republic of Moldova will participate in the 30th annual meeting of the OSCE Council of Ministers in Skopje on November 29-30," the statement said.
The minister notes that the meeting will begin with a panel dedicated to Ukraine, titled "War of Aggression against Ukraine and the Need for a Functional OSCE during the Conflict." At this panel, partner countries will condemn the unjustified aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.
"At the ministerial conference, the delegation of the Republic of Moldova will reiterate its condemnation of the Russian aggression against Ukraine, once again call for the withdrawal of illegal Russian troops from our country, and discuss the importance of a peaceful resolution to the Transnistrian conflict," the minister said.
Participation of Russia in the OSCE meeting
Bulgaria has decided to open its airspace for the plane of the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergey Lavrov, for him to attend the OSCE meeting in Skopje, North Macedonia.
Besides Lavrov, the Russian delegation will include the spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, often referred to as the "mouthpiece of Kremlin propaganda."
The foreign ministers of Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia have announced their decision not to participate in the OSCE meeting because the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, will be present.
However, the EU's foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, will attend the meeting, explaining that someone needs to oppose Russia at the session. The U.S. Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, also confirmed his participation in the meeting.
