Moldovan authorities condemn the violation of the country's airspace, which resulted in a drone exploding near the village of Crocmaz in the Ștefan Vodă district, Moldova's Foreign Ministry reports.

The diplomatic ministry stressed that it strongly condemns the incident that occurred in the village of Crocmaz in the Ștefan Vodă district.

It was there that a "missile-drone" type aircraft not only crashed but also exploded.

"This incident constitutes a serious violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova and endangered the safety of our citizens," the country's Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The ministry also recalled that Chisinau condemns Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine and its consequences for the security of the entire region.

"In this context, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is recalling the Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova in Moscow for consultations," the ministry concluded.

What is known about the drone crash in Moldova

On August 9, a powerful explosion occurred in Moldova, after which dry vegetation caught fire.

A little later, fragments of a combat drone were found at the scene. According to police, no one was injured as a result of the object's crash and subsequent fire.

Moldovan police said that the aircraft that exploded on the country's territory on August 9 was the first of its kind and is described as a "missile-drone."
