A total of 2.7 million voters are registered. The election is being monitored by 2,400 observers.
The first round of the presidential election in Moldova took place on October 20. Citizens participated not only in the election but also in a referendum to determine the future course of the country.
The pro-European candidate, incumbent President Maia Sandu, won, receiving 42.45% of the vote. Her main opponent, Alexandr Stoianoglo, supported by the pro-Russian Socialist Party, received 25.98%.
Expert Angela Gramada in an interview with RBC-Ukraine stated that there were not enough indicators yet to confirm Sandu’s victory. Additionally, the election results will set the tone for next year’s parliamentary elections, with Sandu's party aiming to retain its majority.
Moldova has accused Russia of interfering in the election. Chisinau claimed that Russia spent 100 million euros to disrupt the election and referendum.
