Modi to Putin: Ready to assist in resolving conflict in Ukraine
India is ready to assist in the resolution of the "conflict" in Ukraine. Such problems should be resolved peacefully, stated Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to RIA Novosti.
Modi stated that he is "in constant touch" with Putin over the ongoing "conflict between Russia and Ukraine".
According to the Prime Minister, India believes that such "conflicts" should be resolved peacefully. His country fully supports "efforts to quickly restore peace and stability".
According to Modi, India prioritizes humanity in all its efforts and is ready to provide any possible assistance in the future.
India's position
India continues to maintain relations with both Ukraine and Russia. It has not taken a firm position on Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukrainian territory.
Last month, Ukraine's ambassador to India, Oleksandr Polishchuk, stated that Kyiv hopes India could act as a moderator in negotiations between Russia and Ukraine.
At the same time, Politico reported, citing a senior Ukrainian official, that Kyiv expects India's assistance in concluding a peace agreement with Russia.
