MoD of Ukraine discussed with MoD of Italy joint arms production
The Ukrainian Minister of Defense, Rustem Umerov, held a telephone conversation with his Italian counterpart, Guido Crosetto, according to statements from the Ukrainian MoD.
"Important conversation with the Minister of Defense of Italy, Guido Crosetto. I highly appreciate Italy's contribution to strengthening the defense capabilities of Ukraine," stated Umerov.
According to him, during the discussion, the ministers also talked about military assistance and collaboration with Italian arms manufacturers for joint production in Ukraine.
Military aid from Italy
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Italy has provided Ukraine with several packages of military aid. Most recently, Rome announced preparations for a new shipment of military assistance to Ukraine in May. This supply of weaponry was expected to be the seventh in total.
During a visit to Spain, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni. They discussed the future assistance to Ukraine and other matters.
Later, in October 2023, Italy expressed its intention to deliver an eighth package of military aid to Ukraine. The country is now considering the specific equipment that can be transferred to Kyiv, including anti-aircraft systems, ammunition, and anti-drone measures, including frequency jammers.
