In the early hours of August 19, Russian forces struck Ukraine with ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and hundreds of attack drones. Ukrainian air defenses destroyed the majority of incoming threats, the Air Force reported on Telegram.

The Russian assault included:

  • 270 Shahed attack drones and various drone imitators from Kursk, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia;
  • 5 Iskander-M ballistic missiles from Russia’s Rostov and Voronezh regions and occupied Crimea;
  • 5 Kh-101 cruise missiles launched from strategic aircraft over the Caspian Sea.

The enemy attack was repelled by Ukraine’s air force, surface-to-air missile units, electronic warfare and drone units, as well as mobile fire teams of the Defense Forces.

Preliminary reports indicate Ukraine’s air defenses have shot down or suppressed 236 enemy targets, including:

  • 230 Shahed and various imitation drones
  • 2 Iskander-M ballistic missiles
  • 4 Kh-101 cruise missiles

Four missiles and 40 drones hit 16 locations, while debris from downed enemy targets fell in three areas.

Russian attacks hit Ukraine with drones and missiles

In the early hours of August 19, Russian forces struck northern, southern, and central Ukraine using attack drones as well as cruise and ballistic missiles.

In Poltava region’s Kremenchuk and Lubny districts, strikes and falling debris damaged administrative buildings, with thick black smoke rising over Kremenchuk. Mayor Vitaliy Maletsky shared images showing the aftermath.

In Donetsk, two Iskander-M missiles hit Sloviansk, injuring one woman.
