On the night of Tuesday, February 11, the Russian army launched a missile strike on the Poltava region, targeting Ukraine`s Naftogaz facilities, the press service of the national oil and gas company Naftogaz reports.
Preliminary reports indicate that Naftogaz's production facilities in the Poltava region were damaged. Fortunately, there were no casualties.
Naftogaz is currently taking all necessary measures to stabilize the gas supply situation in the Poltava region.
"We thank all our colleagues who continue to extract, store, and supply gas to all categories of consumers during this extremely difficult time. Despite all challenges, we keep working to support the country's energy resilience," emphasized Acting Chairperson of the Board of Naftogaz Group Roman Chumak.
Night strike on Ukraine
From Monday night into Tuesday, February 11, Russia launched another combined attack on Ukraine. Around midnight, the Russians used drones and Kalibr cruise missiles. By morning, reports emerged of a threat of strikes from Russia’s strategic aviation. Russian missiles were observed heading toward the Poltava region.
Preliminary information indicates that as a result of the missile strike, nine settlements in the Myrhorod district were left without gas supply.
Furthermore, emergency power outages were implemented across Ukraine due to the attack. According to Ukraine's Energy Minister German Galushchenko, Russia is once again attempting to disrupt Ukraine's energy system.
