After a morning rocket attack from Lebanon, Israel retaliated by striking command centers and other military targets of the Hezbollah group, according to the Israel Defense Forces.

The Israeli army targeted command centers, infrastructure facilities, launchers, and terrorists in southern Lebanon.

The Israel Defense Forces stated that on the morning of Friday, March 28, Hezbollah militants launched rockets from Lebanese territory at the Upper Galilee region in northern Israel.

The military called this a flagrant violation of agreements between the two countries, posing a direct threat to the civilian population of the State of Israel.

“The State of Lebanon bears responsibility for upholding the agreement. The IDF will operate in order to remove any threat to the civilians of the State of Israel,” the military emphasized.

Middle East escalation

In September of last year, the Israeli army launched a military operation in southern Lebanon against Hezbollah militants. Before this, the IDF had eliminated nearly all of the leaders of the Islamic group.

In November, both sides agreed to a ceasefire. According to the agreement, Israeli forces were to withdraw from Lebanon over 60 days, while the regular Lebanese Armed Forces would take control of the southern regions to prevent militants from returning.

However, in practice, the ceasefire is not fully functioning. The Israeli army regularly strikes Islamist targets.

On March 28, the Israeli army struck a Hezbollah drone warehouse in the suburbs of Beirut. This attack was also in response to the rocket strike by the militants.

In mid-March, the IDF attacked the command center of the Radwan forces in southern Lebanon.
