The Israel Defense Forces struck Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon, including a command center used by the Radwan forces, according to IDF.

The strikes were carried out over several hours on the evening of Sunday, March 16.

"The presence of these terrorist infrastructure sites constitutes a blatant violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon. The IDF will not allow this kind of activity and will act against it," as the statement follows.

Earlier on Sunday, Israeli forces reported a shot fired at a parked car near the village of Avivim. No casualties have been reported.

"The shot most likely originated from Lebanese territory. IDF troops are scanning the area and the incident is under review," stated army soldiers.

It is also noted that any firing at Israel from Lebanese territory is a blatant violation of the agreements between Israel and Lebanon.

Israel - Hezbollah ceasefire

Throughout 2024, Israeli forces eliminated almost all leaders of the Hezbollah group, and in September, the IDF launched a ground operation against militants in southern Lebanon.

At the end of November, a ceasefire was established between Israel and Hezbollah. Under the agreement, Israel is to withdraw its forces from Lebanon within 60 days, while the Lebanese regular army will take control of the southern territories to prevent the return of militants.

However, the ceasefire is not always fully respected. The Israeli military periodically strikes Hezbollah infrastructure in Lebanon and eliminates other leaders and units of Islamists violating the truce.

In February, Israel announced its intention to withdraw its forces from southern Lebanon. However, the military plans to leave units at five strategic positions.
