Missile and drone attacks on Ukraine overnight: How many were shot down
Russia launched around a dozen missiles of various types and 14 Shahed drones at Ukraine on the night of February 18. Air defense forces shot down an enemy missile and 12 drones, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.
Tonight, Russian forces launched six S-300 surface-to-air missiles (the Donetsk region), three Kh-22 cruise missiles (the Voronezh region), and one guided aviation missile Kh-59 (the Zaporizhzhia region). Additionally, the Russians deployed 14 combat drones from Primorsko-Akhtarsk and Kursk.
As a result of the military operation, 12 Shahed drones and one Kh-59 missile were shot down. Air defense systems operated within the Chernihiv, Sumy, Poltava, Kirovohrad, and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
To repel the attack, anti-aircraft missile units, mobile fire groups, and electronic warfare assets were engaged.
Strike on the Poltava region
The Ukrainian Air Force had reported the launch and movement of Shahed drones since the evening of February 17.
The head of the Poltava Regional State Administration announced that Russian occupiers had targeted the territory of the Poltava region overnight. An infrastructure object was hit in the Poltava district. As a result of the strike, a fire broke out, which has already been extinguished.
According to preliminary data, there were no casualties or injuries as a result of the attack.
