Ministry of Sports comments on trip of Ukrainian athletes to 2024 Olympics
The Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine has revealed the conditions for athletes' travel to the 2024 Olympics in Paris, announces Acting Minister of Sports of Ukraine, Matviy Bidnyi.
The Acting Minister of Sports of Ukraine has stated that in the event of the participation of Russian athletes who support the war against Ukraine in the Olympic Games, no Ukrainian athlete will compete with them.
"We are not ready yet to make a final decision on whether to participate in the Olympic Games. Saying right now whether we will go or not is the simplest option, but it will be incorrect. We can always refuse to participate, but now we must do everything to either prevent Russians from being at the Olympics or make the conditions of their participation such that they regret their decision to come," said Matviy Bidnyi.
The minister also noted that there is no deadline for making decisions.
"There are no deadlines for making a decision - we will approve it when it is beneficial for us," added Bidnyi.
Participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes in the 2024 Olympics
The International Olympic Committee announced in early December the eligibility of Russian and Belarusian athletes for the 2024 Olympics but with one condition.
By the way, Russian athletes have started to decline participation in the Olympics due to the neutral status.
Earlier, we reported that the Lithuanian government is working on preventing the participation of Russians and Belarusians in the 2024 Olympics.
