A military aircraft crashed in Sudan during takeoff from Wadi Seidna military airport in northern Omdurman, part of greater Khartoum. Dozens of dead victims have been reported, including both military personnel and civilians, Al Jazeera reports.

According to the media, the crash of the Antonov aircraft likely occurred due to technical reasons. The media also reported that the plane collided with a residential building.

There are reports of 19 dead victims, including Major-General Bahr Ahmed, a senior commander in Khartoum. The injured were transported to the hospital, and firefighters were able to localize the fire at the crash site.

"One of our aircraft crashed during takeoff from Wadi Seidna Airport on the evening of February 25," said the Sudanese Armed Forces, acknowledging that both civilians and military personnel were among the dead and injured victims.

Currently, no additional details about the type of aircraft, the number of victims, or the cause of the crash have been provided.

Aviation disaster in Washington

On January 29, a passenger Bombardier CRJ700 aircraft and a military UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter collided mid-air in Washington. The wreckage of both aircraft fell into the Potomac River.

The crash claimed the lives of 67 people - 60 passengers and 4 crew members aboard the civilian aircraft, as well as three military personnel who were on board the helicopter.
