Anthropic has introduced a special beta version of Claude for Microsoft Word. The new integration is aimed at professionals working with complex documents: lawyers, financiers, and editors, according to the official Claude blog.
How Claude works inside Microsoft Word
Unlike regular chatbots, Claude for Word works as a full-fledged assistant editor. It can analyze multi-page files and make edits without breaking complex formatting.
Key features of the tool:
- Smart review: Claude can automatically check legal contracts or financial reports, pointing out conflicting clauses.
- Track changes mode: The AI supports Word’s standard “tracked changes” mode. Users can see every edit made by the neural network and accept or reject it like from a real colleague.
- Preserving formatting: While editing selected sections, Claude maintains styles, list numbering, and document formatting.
- Section citation: For any question about the document, the AI provides answers with clickable links to specific sections.
- Comment handling: The assistant can process comment threads in the document, helping resolve disputes between authors faster.
Currently, Claude for Word is available to users on the Team and Enterprise plans.
Earlier this year, the company also introduced the ability for Claude to control a user’s computer at the interface level. Developers note that this unlocks even more possibilities for full office work automation.
